The Innisfree
Irish Cycles Ultimate Racing Frame

(MSRP $2400)

ISP 40T Optimized

Without question, the Innisfree and Innisfree Ultralight ISP frames are our fastest yet. Utilizing an a new expanded poly-styrene core construction method, the frame features highly compacted layers of carbon fiber interwoven with thermoplastics to give a comfortable, safe, responsive, and speedy ride. Not as much the "all arounder" that is the Tir na nOg, , the Innisfree was designed for the highly aggressive rider that is looking to take home primes and kick into a full tilt sprint after an hour of battling it out in a crit. Both Innisfree and the Utlralight Integrated Seat Post (ISP) Innisfree feature the same geometries. Both utilize a shorter top tube resulting in an aggressive yet comfortable drop from the saddle to the bars in order to maximize aerodynamics. The chain stays are extremely beefy to ensure that you have high power transfer to the wheels while the seat stays are bowed and flattened in order to take the edge off a jagged road course. Simply put, this frame is speed.

When choosing the Innisfree or the Innisfree Ultralight ISP, know that in both cases you're getting a frame capable of taking on the most demanding of races that you may see. The frames differ primarily in the level of carbon that is utilized. In the Innisfree, we use a mixture of Toray high modulus carbon fiber and thermoplastics. The thermoplastics are interwoven throughout the frame and form a matrix layer between carbon lay-ups in order to provide impact resistance and strength; both necessary qualities in today's racing bikes but not often seen. The Innisfree Ultralight ISP differs in that it utilizes both Toray high modulus and ultra high-modulus in a blend we call HM2 and features a integrated 35.0mm seat mast. The seat mast differs from a standard seat post in that it is an extension of the frame itself. This results in greater power transfer to the drivetrain while at the same time giving the rider a more "connected" feeling as he is riding a single integrated unit. The feeling has to be felt to believed. Both frames also feature internal cable routing for both derailleurs and brakes, a tapered head tube ( 1.125 to 1.5") and utilize the BB30 bottom bracket standard. One ride on the Innisfree and you'll be hooked on the precise steering afforded by the tapered head tube which counters the drift we often see in deep V rims on frames with 1.125" headsets. The BB30 is another treasure and allows the rider to reduce his/her Q factor while at the same time lightening the overall weight of the cranks and bottom bracket.

The Innisfree weights in at approx 1300g for a 54cm frame, and approx. 450g for the fork. The Innisfree Ultralight ISP weighs in at 1050g in a 54cm frame and the fork weighs in at approximately 350g. Between the two frames you see a weight difference that is simply attributed to their construction materials. On the outside, the Innisfree features a 12K weave in an impressive black/white or completely white paint job while the Innisfree Ultralight ISP has the same colors available however, utilizes a 3k compressed weave. Both are true gems to own. We recommend the Innisfree for all aggressive riders, and the Innisfree Ultralight ISP for the same riders who are looking to shed some weight.

All frames come with a custom Cane Creek Headset.

When selecting your correct frame size, it is important to take into consideration not only your seat tube (seen as measurements 1 and 2 on our chart), but also your top tube requirements (as seen in measurement 3). We offer four sizes: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. These frames are semi-sloping designs that roughly measure the equivalent of 48-50cm (Extra-Small), 51 to 53 (Small), 54-56 (Medium), 57-60 Large, 60+ (Extra Large), in traditional geometry. We believe that the best size frame is one that is as small as possible along the seat tube (1 or 2) while allowing the upper body to lay out relaxed. This results in a comfortable ride that maximizes the mechanical properties of the bicycle and restricting weight to the lowest amount possible. When measuring for the ISP frame, be sure to look at your current bike and figure the distance from the top of seat post (without the seat on it) to the center of the bottom bracket. Compare that information against the above chart Virtual seat tube height to see if the frame will fit you.

To determine the proper Irish Cycles frame size fit for you, we recommend you see one of our dealers. If not, or if you're buying through the web, you will first have to get a few measurements. The first measurement needed is your inseam. Stand with your back against a wall, your bare feet approximately 6" apart on a hard floor. Stand up as straight as possible and look towards the horizon. Place the spine of a hard backed book, or any other 90 degree angle item between your legs with one edge against the wall and pull it up firmly into your crotch. Have some one measure from the top edge of the book to the floor, in centimeters. (You can convert inches to centimeters by multiplying inches by 2.54.) Repeat two or three times, for consistency, and average the results to get your inseam length.

Now multiply the measurement of your inseam by 0.67. This will yield your approximate-sized down tube required on a bicycle. Compare that to our chart above and always round down to whole numbers. For your top tube measurement, we recommend you compare your current ride's measurement against our top tubes as listed in the above table or see a professional to obtain your true top tube measurement.
